Welcome, brave adventurers, to The Quest! Prepare for a fantastical journey where trails meet riddles, dice decide your fate, and bosses await your challenge. Whether you’re embarking on The Knight’s Longmarch or The Dungeon Dash, your adventure will be full of wonder, challenges, and laughs. Here’s everything you need to know to conquer The Quest!

 SPELLBOOK GUIDE

The Quest! is a one-of-a-kind adventure run where you choose your own path, battle hidden bosses, complete side quests, and roll the dice to shape your fate. With 6-mile and 16-mile options, no set route, and unique character classes, every runner’s journey is different. Face the final dragon, earn time bonuses, and claim your victory! Every participant gets a custom D20 die, The Quest! shirt, and free drink to mark their adventure.

  1. Choose Your Class - After registering, you will virtually roll for your class. Your roll will be saved and assigned to your registration, determining your unique ability for the quest. The Quest! Class Finder

  2. Quest Gear - Every runner receives a free custom D20, The Quest! shirt, trail map with quest details, and a post-run beer from Auburn Alehouse. Costumes are highly encouraged, but don’t need to match your class.

  3. Side Quests - Your journey can't be completed without completing any number of the 16 designed quests. Some side quests require use of your phone, solving riddles, carrying items, finding lost items, physical challenges, or locating the missing Goblin! Each completed Side Quest earns you a time reduction bonus off your final time.

  4. Hunt for Bosses - Meet the Fairie, Wizard, Dragon, and Goblin scattered along the route. Each completed side quest earns a time bonus, the more quests you complete, the greater your final reward.

  5. Your Fate Awaits - No two adventures are the same. Roll wisely, take risks, and see where The Quest! leads you. Your final adjusted time will determine who claims victory and becomes the Champion of the Realm.

    • When: Saturday, March 7th, 2026

      • Check-in: 10:30 AM at Auburn Alehouse Annex, Auburn, CA.

      • Start Time: 11:00 AM sharp for all distances.

      • Finish Time: All adventurers must return to Auburn Alehouse by 4:30 PM.

    • Where: Auburn Alehouse Annex, 103 Sacramento St, Auburn, CA 95603

    • Cost: $40 (includes entry, post-run beer, and a t-shirt).

  • Required personal gear:

    • Camera Phone: Required for certain Side Quests.

    • Backpack / Pack: Recommended for holding onto your Side Quest items.

    • Water Bottle: Recommended for basic health.

    You’ll receive:

    • D20 Dice (Pre-Run): used for battling certain bosses.

    • Crude Map (Pre-Run): used for mapping your path.

    • Runners Bib (Pre-Run): used for identifying your class and adventure.

    • The Quest! T-Shirt (Pre/Post Run): used for pride and looking great.

    • Beer / Cider (Post Run): used for added health.

  • Before setting out, you must virtually roll for your class by clicking here. The roll will be saved and assigned to your registration. You may only roll once and the first roll will be recorded. Class details can be found here:

    • Roll 1-2: Frog Knight: Croak of Courage

      • Ability: Give any two runners an automatic Easy quest completion.

      • Party Bonus: Each person in your party gets a -5 minute bonus if you complete all Wisdom quests.

      • Strengths: Wisdom

    • Roll 3-6: Warrior: Enduring Will

      • Ability: Give any two runners an automatic Strength or Constitution quest completion.

      • Party Bonus: Each person in your party gets a -5 minute bonus if you complete all Strength & Charisma quests.

      • Strengths: Strength & Charisma

    • Roll 7-12: Rogue: Thief’s Touch

      • Ability: Give any two runners a re-roll and you can't lose your D20 if you fail.

      • Party Bonus: Each person in your party gets a -5 minute bonus if you complete all Dexterity quests.

      • Strengths: Dexterity

    • Roll 13-18: Cleric: Divine Favor

      • Ability: Give any two runners protection from negative outcome of a failed quest.

      • Party Bonus: Each person in your party gets a -5 minute bonus if you complete all Constitution & Intelligence quests.

      • Strengths: Constitution & Intelligence

    • Roll 19-20: Knight: Oath of Completion

      • Ability: For each Strength & Dexterity quest completed, you gain a -2 minute bonus.

      • Party Bonus: Each person in your party gets a -5 minute bonus if you complete all Easy & Medium quests.

      • Strengths: Constitution, Intelligence, & Strength

  • Each runner will have 40 minutes added to your overall time when you finish the race. To reduce your overall time, you must complete any number of side quests for various awards. Each completed Side Quest earns you at least 5 minutes off your overall time. Many of these side quests can be completed individually but are easier in a Party.

    Parties: Any group of 4 runners with any combination of classes. Limit one party per person. Parties can be created prior to the race but are verified at the end of the race (in case you find others to join you along the way).

    • The Wizard's Potion: Find ingredients for a healing potion

    • The Riddle of the Stone: Ancient runes guard your path

    • The Timekeeper’s Mark: Beat the sands of time

    • The Goblin Hunt!: Catch the mischievous goblin!

    • The Hidden Path: Let the spirits guide you

    • The Rune Collector: Gather ancient knowledge

    • The People’s Fate: Cast your fate with the king

    • The Dragon Egg: The rarest quest of all

  • Back at the Auburn Alehouse Annex, you’ll face the mighty King! Turn in your collected rewards and quests, roll your dice, and hope your bravery and cunning are enough to claim victory!

    Celebrate your triumph with a post-quest beer or cider and a commemorative t-shirt! Regardless of the outcome, you’re a true hero for taking on The Quest!

The Knight’s Longmarch

A grueling adventure for seasoned adventurers seeking glory. Navigate the lands, battle fierce bosses, and uncover hidden secrets.

The route will remain a secret till event day. 16 miles minimum with upwards of 1500ft of elevation gain.

The Dungeon Dash

A beginner-friendly quest for those looking to dip their toes into adventure. Perfect for first-time heroes or anyone craving a whimsical journey.
